Finding more than one trail route to run can be tricky, especially if you live in a big town or city surrounded by tarmacked roads.
However, these valuable tips will help you discover new off-road trails to run daily.
- Install Trail Running Apps
I, for example, use an app called AllTrails.
It is a free app that provides guides and maps of all trails in urban and rural areas for running, hiking, biking, and camping.
The trail paths have pictures and reviews taken and written by other runners and adventure lovers, which gives you a glimpse of the trail before running.
It also tells you the type of trail (easy/hard), length, and estimated time to cover it, and provides an opportunity to record your running activity.
2. Ask Around
Asking fellow runners where they run is a great way to discover new trail routes. Your friends and family can also be of significant help, especially if they enjoy walking, hiking, or biking.
3. Go Out and Explore
When exploring a new trail, you’re walking through an unfamiliar path. Therefore, always explore during the day, carry your phone, and ensure a loved one can track you from their device or take a friend with you.
3. Ask Google
What is this phrase everyone says these days? Google has all the answers. Right.
Go to your Google app and search for running trails near (put your location). In a second, you will have a pool of information on all runnable trails in your area.
4. Google Earth
Google Earth is another excellent tool for finding trail roads to run.
Install the Google Earth app and, like Google, search for trail running routes near you or anywhere you wish to run.
5. Take Part in Trail Races
Running local races will help you discover many trails in your home area and connect with other runners who can share knowledge of their running routes.

6. Join Trail Running Groups
You can physically join a local trail running group or follow different trail running groups on social media to stay updated on every route they discover.
Now I’d Like to hear from you.
